Frank Theatre's production of Caryl Churchill's "VINEGAR TOM"

September 12th-October 5th
Vinegar Tom, written in 1976, is an early work by a writer who is one of the most produced playwrights in the world, Caryl Churchill; Frank has presented two of her other works-our acclaimed production of Top Girls in 1990, and Mad Forest in 1993.
Set against the backdrop of the 17th century witch hunts in England, Vinegar Tom focuses on women impoverished and trapped by their class, and the perpetuation of their status by the men who occupy various stations around them.
Churchill said of Vinegar Tom, "The women accused of witchcraft were often those on the edges of society. I wanted to write about witches with no witches in it; a play not about evil, hysteria and possession by the devil but about poeverty, humiliation and prejudice, and how women accused of witchcraft saw themselves."
Frank Theatre is a professional theatre company committed to producing unique work which stretches the skills of the artists who create the work while simultaneously challenging the everyday perceptions of the audience through the exploration of ideas and issues of social, political and/or cultural concern.

Say it ain't so, Sebastian! Break it so us gently, Belle! The Midwestern hipster enclave of Armitage Heights is about to lose its most beloved critically-acclaimed twee indie-pop outfit, Christmas Island, to New York City (Brooklyn!). The city fathers will do anything to keep them in town-including filing an injunction to legally prevent the move. The young (and old), the musically gifted (and not) all converge on the Pierce County Courthouse to collectively tell - and sing - a harrowing tale of ambition, money, skinny jeans, urban gentrification, 19th Century agricultural subsidies, Ukrainian electro DJs, converted lofts, tandem bicycles, the Staten Island ferry, trade tariffs, the American legal system and 9.5 Pitchfork ratings in this living-color theater of the mind. Featuring the Electric Arc players, band, and friends. It's Witness for the Prosecution meets If You're Feeling Sinister - and it's only at the Ritz Theater!
Saturday, September 20th and Saturday October 18th. 8PM $15
Ballet of the Dolls: BORN TO BE ALIVE
October 22nd-November 2nd

"Saturday Night Fever" was only one man's story. Set against the throbbing beat and bumping hips we find that there were stories to be told. Some dancers were lonely in the middle of a crazy dance floor, others were crying from a broken heart, some were trying desperately to gain the interest of a handsome man across the room, while still others seemed to not have a care in the world.....they'd just turn and turn in circles and play that tambourine boy.
There is still The Saloon and The Gay 90's....new clubs everyday....but the daddy of them all was "Sutton's" and it held many secrets and stories behind its unmarked doors!
